Ok i've decided to ask my fellow ford forum members about this. I'm basically a stuburn kinda guy, waaay back a i use to be on Mirc a fair bit, but along came the ICQ craze and took me yonks before i converted. But when i did finally use ICQ i was hooked.
Now it's the same story with MSN Messenger, everyone left right and centre have been telling me about it for the past year and a half but i've resisted the wave. But now it looks like it's perhaps time.
So i'd like to find out who here uses MSN and does it really rock. I'll make my decision as to whether i should use Messenger based on the responses.
Cheers,
:s5

I have it, and it now comes bundled with windows XP too.
It isn't bad, has better emoticons than ICQ. Don't prefer either one of them, and don't use them so much anymore now that ff people tend to meet up in irc
Messanger is definately better than icq, it much simpler and easier to get used to. i use it all the time. just to see what me mates are doin n that and when they all have Messenger it is really convenient
any way i definately recommend you give it a go
in term of ease of use and size, msn is now where icq used to be all those years ago. icq's too big nowadays, and too complicated. i prefer msn. get it!
while you're at it, get aim as well. it's the next big thing.

Yep, used to use both ICQ and MSN but I now only use MSN. Back in the bad old days I forgot to back up my contact list in ICQ before reofomatting my PC and lost all my contacts. At that point I said @#$% ICQ and I just went with MSN. Then shortly after they decide to put the contact list on the server like MSN had all along.
There's also a handy add-in for MSN called Plus! that lets you set a customised away message and also lets you out actions into your chats like IRC does. That is, you can type in /me slaps someone with a trout and it shows up in the windows as an action. But the best thing about Plus! is that it logs all your chats. Very handy. You can get it here.
The only think I don't like about MSN is that you can't chat when you're in "Appear Offline" mode. You could in ICQ when you were "Invisible". Other than that it's great.

What i do, i block all in the contact list, and when someone i want to talk to is on, i unblock them only
I think Messanger is only just starting to catch up to ICQ in regards to features people ask about.
Like it's stated above, people want these extra features which Microsoft haven't incorporated yet.
I still think ICQ is the better IM client, but it's down to personal opinion. MSN just annoys the hell out of me whenever I load up MS Outlook or another MS affiliated web program and it decides to pop up wanting to connect (and yes I know you can disable it internally) but in cases where you've forgot to do that, it just annoys me!
Anyway, just my 2c worth. Go with what you like the feel of. Mind you, i'm running ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and mIRC at once.
