I always thought the VT Commodore was a revised Opel Omega, released in 1994. I've seen plenty of them in my home country.
Hence the fact that Holden doesn't export Opel Omega's!
People wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

quote froma yanky mag Muscle car review winter 04 edition
is its styling dull? is its price too expensive? its nameplate to obscure for todays performance-car buyer? its hard to nail down the exact reason, but pontiacs latest version of the GTO isnt exactly flying out the door
according to trade journal about 3700 GTOs sold during the first half 04. thats a sales pace that, unless something changes drastically, will far short of the 16000 total units pontiac had hoped to sell during the year. nearly 720 gtos were sold april and 600 in june. WHY ? the price tag, which starts at US$ 33,495 , may be a reason, for compararison the all new 05 mustang GT will be priced below US$ 25000.
the rumors are the 05 GTO will have more eye candy, power which should attract more buyers, we"ll see
finish of story...
well if adding on some big snorkles and chrome wheels will make it sell , ill walk town hall square naked .. Y would u pay 8K more for less.
and Y do we pay more for the monaro than the usa when we make and bake them here? sorry pontiac sales doods, ur xmas bonus is in the gutter this year.
on top gear they reviewed the stang. they said it was an awesome lookin car compared to the euro boxes. the price of it is good to for the GT model. if Ford built them RHD and Aus imported a few for 55k on road (yeah i know dreaming) i would get one.
Gotta love the look of that Mustang! Retro sixties maybe, but it's awesome. Shows up the Monaros styling when its side by side. Add another hundred or so horsies..and mmmm!
Now theoretically, it being $US5000 cheaper than the GTO in the US, we should have it here at what?....$65,000....
Shame it doesn't work that way....
Looks f$#king ugly and would probably get you laughed off the streets here in Australia.
Dunno what the Yanks think about it, but then again they thought the AU was a good styling for an Australian car!!
Reminds me of those ugly 70's-80's BMW's... seriously, thats gotta be ugly car of the year winner.
I wonder if Ford have ever considered putting a few boss 290's into a few mustangs and calling them limited editions. just imagine that power with the lighter Mustang. I think it would kill the GTO
that would be insane, so the export monaro gets the LS2 or it is fitted over there with one.
but a boss290 would whoop ass in that new mustang. Shame it still has a live arse rear end.
And fit the Twin TB setup as well and some Control Blade IRS

Local Monaros have LS2 as well. The local availabilty of this motor was brought froward 12 months or so due to the exports needing it. It is now the base HSV motor 297KW. The one they are trying to get for the GTS is 373KW! Apparently the Monaro has a really small boot now due to the relocation of the fuel tank for the US market.

The Mustang is made with its buyer demographic in mind. Most are interested in drag racing and straight line stuff, not cornering. A strong live-axle setup shits all over any kind of IRS for drag racing. Plus there's an abundance of aftermarket places specializing in live-axle in the US. I don't think you'll be seeing a IRS Mustang that isn't an SVT Cobra for a long time.
