My biggest dam nightmare....

Well... My AU1 XR has kicked the bucket apparently... **** are a bunch of misleading crooks im affraid... They said the warrenty would cover me for any major engine problems... Now they turn around and tell me it has a $500 limit...

After three car purchases from them, now that something has gone wrong, they have been exposed in my eyes...

Thanks alotedited by xa-coupe ... PM AUBoy if you want to know who the dealer is

Tough luck mate. It's a shame dealers have to put the 'fine-print' with used car warranty. There's nothing much you can do once you sign that dotted line.

Once again, condolences.

I missed manufacturer warrenty by 1 month... God I feel gutted...

There is some engine selling in the Market for 1 grand ... Apparently just the engine block .... However after speaking to the guy ... He says the car was in a fire, and the engine block remained fine...

How much would fitting an engine block cost anyhow?

Anyhow thanks for your sympathy :(

Sorry to hear about your car mate, but I know what rip offs they are!! I bought a warranty with my EF a few year ago, $800 for 3 years, and nothing was ever covered which infuriated me. So when it came up to 3 years with my AU recently, I didn't waste my money. I really hope you can fix your car soon without too much to the hip pocket. All the best!

I wonder how much I would get for the car now if I trade it in... I dont really want to pay them 4 grand for new engine... Thinking of just getting a BA XR on installments and salvaging whatever from this car.

Sheet

whats wrong with the engine?

the dealer could carry out the repair at their own internal rate if you traded it in so you should only loose a bit more than thier cost of it.

They dont know whats wrong with the engine.. They want to strip it down... But I dont trust them anymore so I told them to leave it for the moment...

The guy said that if they strip it down and it appears to be a manufacturers fault, Ford should pay for 50%...

The thing is.. The engine was running when I left the car, it was just starting to sound rough...

It all started with the Oil gauge hitting zero all of a sudden... and then the engine started to sound a bit rough..

I thought the car was in good condition.. its got 75k on the clock, AU-2 rims... no body damage... well now possibly a bum engine... It would be interesting to see how much they offer me for trade in, and how much installments will be on a BA XR6...

I don't quite follow this. Left it where? With the mechanic?

No.. I called RACV.. He could not identify the problem... But he recommended we get it towed to a mechanic to prevent any engine damage... So I got it towed to the dealer whom I wont name again... They called me this morning saying that the oil guage was faulty... Then 2 hours later they called to say that the engine needs to be stripped to identify why it is producing a rough noise..

I may get the engine stripped... If the engine has gone ill most probably try to negotiate a trade in against an AU2/3 XR or BA xr... not sure what to ask for if the engine has had it though...

Oh, I see. That's a bit rough, only 75k on the clock. I would be extremely pissed off.
If you got warranty cover for $500, ask them for $500 worth of strip down/fix up, and then come in and load up the bits and pieces and take it somewhere else for repair :)
