there are bigger issues...but not to me right now.
my dog, scooby doo the border collie, has been a bit off colour the last week or two. not his usual energetic self, off his food, and yesterday when we took hi to the park, he was really lethargic. was knackered by the time we had walked 30m.
mrs rsgerry took him to the vet today...poor scoob has cancer of the spleen. not being a medical sort, as far as i know, he has leukemia (sp?) as well (or is that cancer???). anyway, he has to take tablets for the rest of his life. hopefully, that will be some time yet.
he has a 50% chance...i hope he makes it.
for 10 years, he hzs been my fluffy friend...i would like a few more.

Mate, I feel for you. I'm in the states and I miss my dog more than anything. He's my best ever mate and forever puts a smile on my face, and constantly makes me see a better world.
I often think of how things would be without him, and so I see where you are right now. Unfortunately the day will come, however as you said let's hope there's many more years to come.
Say hi to Scooby for me and give him a big hug every day. Tell him how special he is and just make every day a special one for him.
Best wishes to both of you!
Pete.

I'm more of a cat person but the same principle applies. They've been a part of the family for so long and you don't want to see the little (or big) bugger go. Hope he gets well soon, mate.

I hope he gets better.
My old dog was an epileptic and had to take tablets every day to stop him from having fits. Nothing was worse than seeing him have a fit. With tablets every day, he was okay. He finally passed away at 14 years of age.
Just think about the good times you have had with him.

Jessie and Mollie (Jes-mol) hope everything goes alright, being of the same strain as Scooby....Nuthin like the unconditional love a a fluffy friend...
That's sad news. My last dog died from Leukaemia a couple of years ago (she was only 5 years old). The tablets did prolong her life and gave me time to spoil her as much as possible until the illness got so bad it was kinder to end her pain. The one thing I do regret doing was taking the advice of the vet and forking out $1000 to have a bone marrow biopsy done, it did nothing but prove the worst and caused her more pain but I was clutching at staws hoping for a miracle.
Sorry to hear about Scooby rsgerry. I think the worst bit is that you feel quite helpless overcoming that unconditional look that they get in their eyes. Hang in there mate, take plenty of pictures and wish upon a star.
