Tongue My little traffic light fight

Well, went to Perth for the weekend and for whatever reason the old S pack seems to be really going well lately, on the 250km trip to Perth I even made the comment to my GF that I was overtaking in 5th and she agreed that over the last week she thought it had noticably more grunt also.

Anyway, arrive in Perth, am on the Reid highway (100km/h zone) and beside me pulls up a VU SS manual, he gives it a rev and gently rolls forward, I figure with the way the S pack is going I might as well have a crack at him, expecting to get blown away, anyway, I dial up about 3000rpm, slip it into first and away we go, I get away from with line with just a quick flash of the traction control light (I forgot to turn it off) anyway, I am actually in front of this guy as I begin to hear the roar of the big V8 coming up along side, I flat change into second as the TC light gives another little flash, holding it in second till the speed limit and the rev limiter in second gear which comes on at exactly 100km/h.

I was about one car length infront of the ute as we hit the speed limit and I got off the gas as I havent got enough points to speed. Anyway this guy keeps the mighty Gen3 flat and screams past like a bat out of hell, he must have kept it flat as he took off down that freeway at i reckon over 200kmh.

I am not for a second saying that a V6 S pack will beat a manual VU Gen3 however I think it was my driving that beat him as he wasnt prepared for the clutch dumping flat changing driver next to him and Ive said it before and I'll say it again the manual S pack is pretty quick package from 0-100 due to the way it's geared, Infact with a light load of fuel I would say it would be good for close enough to a flat 7.0 seconds. I know its alot quicker than my old EBXR8 and that did 15.3 second 1/4. However over 100kmh the old commy really starts to struggle and by 160 she is almost totally out of steam.

So this is in your VX S? Yeah obviously he didn't expect a drag race so it took him a while to take off so it's not really that fair but I'm sure the V6 has more poke down low then up high. Oh and BOF Ried Hwy isn't the best place to speed because there are always cameras and cops in the area.

Just want to clear up 2 points.

1. He was ready and willing and just got bogged down at the start.

2. I didnt speed, I got to the speed limit then stopped, he on the otherhand didnt!

Good stuff. Love to hear stories of Gen3's getting their arses kicked - even if it is by a lowly commie V6! Gives every Falcon driver in the country some hope!

Good kill there BOF. Yeah i would love to vs a Manual VX S as it's the direct rivel to my XR6 HP.

0-100km/h in 7's is quick. Commodores are always strong off the mark. Mine would be lucky to get 7.6's to 100km/h but picks up strong after 80km/h.

My ED has had a similar run with a mate's VX LS1, after 120kmh, those things pull like a raped ape.

Yeh thats spot on with the 0-100 falcon 6 AUTO strength.

They dont pull so well 0-60, due to the high frist gear but once in the high RPM 1st gear, they start to pull with great strength...

Just after slipping in to second, an AUTO 6 from EF - AU is doing just around 90KMH!! thats a damn tall first gear!

Thats putting it lightly, they are bloody pathetic 0 - 60

Your run doesn't surprise me much BOF, my mates manual VU V6 is bloody quick off the mark (has run a 14.8 at the plex).

With a good launch you could quite easily catch out an LS1.

Yeap the Falcon always makes it's best impressions with a manual. Gotta like the 3.25.1 1st gear ratio and 3.45 final drive.

My ED keeps up witha VY manual V6, three times in a row I was sitting on his bumper at 170kmh on a private driveway out west at my GF's place. Either he can drive or my car is a littel 'fit' than the norm.
