My test, VY R8 VS BA XR8

After reading the thread about the V8 Territory I was scared to post this up, but hey, I'm gonna risk it!

Last night on a dark and lonly strech of road I came across a VY R8 at a set of light... One look to my right, game on...

We're off... it was a slight up hill and after reading all the magazine, I thought I was toast... But wait, whats this... the R8 cant keep up?! was ahead in first, shift to second, then third at 110 (my 19's let me go to 110 in second) beat it till I needed to shift to 5th... then had to slow down for another set of lights... Lucky start I thought... hmmmm...

Waiting for the lights to go green... had a quick chat with the guy who seemed in his 30's... Lights Green... Off again... and again... I pull away from him... he's go one passenger and so do I... and I looked a lot bigger than him so weight was my enemy (I was a lean 123kgs)... He cant believe it... neither could I...

Finally at the last lights... the road was FLAT and perfect... We go one last time... and guess who wins again!

So is the R8 really quicker than the XR8?! Whats the deal? Have these magazine been biased in the testing? or have they not done enough testing?! It was close, I didnt blow him away... but his front was around my tail... so I was ahead and he would make a little ground on the shift but then I would make it up as soon as i got in gear... I dont know if it was auto or manual though... couldnt hear if there was a drop down or not cause of the engine sound... but....

Don't think it matters. Auto's are practically lineball with manuals these days. See this thread: BA XRs, anyone timed the 0-100 yet?
