My thoughts on the future of the Avalon

I just read that the next Toyota Sequoia will get a 5.4L V8

so, I think Toyota should build the next Avalon on RWD platform, base engine the 4.0L V6 from the Prado and optional 5.4L V8 quad cam from the Sequoia/Tundra, give it a 6 auto with an optional 6 manual on sports models, and start competing in Bathurst.... Now, is that too much to ask?

And stick that V8 in the Landcruiser, Lexus LX540, and long wheel base LS540 sedan?

Re: My thoughts on the future of the Avalon

I don't think a die hard Holden or Ford fan would like that. Just imagine it, the Falcon and Cdore would get their arses kicked.
The Camry shares the same platform as that fugly fwd Lexus which goes for like 80 grand, so maybe the new Avalon could use the up coming GS platform? Which also uses a new V8.

Re: My thoughts on the future of the Avalon

They could even build it on the existing Lexus LS430 platform... Do you think if they did it, they could win over a few Ford/Holden customers?

My opinion on the Avalon's future is something similar to this:

At least it will look a bit better.

Dodo? Like the "Internet that flies"? LMAO! I always thought that was a particularly stoopid name for a company!

But back to the Avalon. Quick question, who here would seriously consider buying one?

Re: My thoughts on the future of the Avalon

If it had 1uz 4.0 v8 and was RWD I might be interested. Toyota would just screw it up with something like crap suspension and no LSD though.

Indeed, or they'd make it ugly as hell, and/or give it a transmission with say 1.5:1 first gear and a 2.5:1 diff ratio so its slower down the quarter then a stock hyundai excel...

Re: My thoughts on the future of the Avalon

I didn't know Dodos leaked petrol? hehehehehe

It wouldn't run ar Bathurst anyway. I guess this 5.4 is DOHC? Or at least OHC? Either way, it's 5.4 litres, not 5, and I can't see Toyota developing a 5.0 pushrod engine just for V8 supercars.
