It a mystery...

One of the girls at work got booked last week for speeding and boy is she pissed. She was apparently coming out of Goulburn at 7:30 in the morning (the only car on the road) and got done for $230... She said it was between the Big Merino and the roundabout to the highway. Going out of town has a 60k limit and coming into town has an 80k limit. Can this be possible on the same road??

not sure - all she said was the $230 so I assume she would have been 15k over??

Re: It a mystery...

It's been a while since I was fined, so I'm not sure...

But she should have been doing the posted limit. The road can have different speeds for different directions. Canberra has the odd one or two as well. There is one near Kaleen, where one side is 60kph, and the other side is 80kph.

Re: It a mystery...

Coming in to Goulburn from the west side it's 4 lane divided road.

Inbound in 60Km/h and the out bound is 80Km/h

Go figure

Re: It a mystery...

thats rediculous!

if its safe to do 80 in one direction, how can it only be safe to do 60 in the other? is one side a potholed dirt covered mess and the other nice clean new bitumen?

Why is it a mystery about the speed limit for that stretch? Have a look at the surround area, the roads and where it's heading. The important wording is inbound and outbound. Inbound is 60 because there are numerous side streets and houses plus the turn and the end. The outbound lanes have less houses and side streets once you pass the Big Merino and heads towards the highway.
