In Australia...the Mainline was a utility,but a Mainline in the United States was a lower budget passenger fordor and tudor sedan.As an example,our Ford Mainline ute's in OZ did'nt come from the factory with chrome trimming around the front windshield,which was in tradition with the lower budget US Mainline models.Our Customlines in Australia from 1952 to 1956 were not a year behind America...but we got the Y-block a year after them in 1955.I believe the Customline was discontinued in the United States after the 1956 model range.Ford Australia based the 1957 Customline on the American 1956 Fairlane...and just added a V8 emblem to the grille.The Australian 1958/59 Customline and Mainline's were cosmetically based on a type of 1955 Ford Canadian Meteor.

wasn`t the `54 customline sedan in the usa the same as our `55 here in australia.
usa `54 front end = aust `55
'' '' `55 '' '' = '' '' `56
'' '' `56 '' '' = '' '' `57

seem to remember reading that somewhere , long time ago but so i could be wrong.??

my family had a maroon `55 customline with a worked 272 Y-block when i was a little kid. i can still remember that car and the sound it made even though i was only about 4 years old when dad sold it. i proberly remember that car more than anything else from when i was a wee-little-trouble-maker.

Incorrect 351cid...An Australian 1954 Customline is the same as an American 1954 Customline.The only difference is that the United States started using the OHV Y-Block V8 in the 1954 Customlines...but in Australia we got them in 1955.The Australian 1952 to 1956 Customlines are identical to the American ones year for year.
