Smile Need advice

I will be in the market for a EF-EL XR6/ XR8 manual in the next couple of weeks and I would like to know if any probs to look out for (I know there's other threads but I was hoping for specific details if pos )

Is it worth getting an XR8 over the 6?

For the XR8, what's the best go-fast mod to begin with?

I have also heard that late 1995 on onwards EF's are the better ones to look for.

Any other advice suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

I can answer one of those questions. I presume that by late '95 they refer to the EF series II. According to my notes, no significant changes affected the XR models at this time. Front suspension revisions across the range may be an improvement (and neat details like a convex passenger side exterior mirror would be appreciated) but if you are purchasing the car with the intent of modifying it, the chances are you'd customise the suspension anyway. So I wouldn't worry about wanting a later model.

The ELs did gain some changes: more aggressive styling and more power and a better exhaust note for the V8.

Thanks guys.
I am prepared to cop worse fuel economy for more grunt and that precious V8 noise. Reliability is also important as there probably will be alot of driving.
I do know a thing or two about what to do but with so many options and opinions it's sometimes hard to make a educated decision.

I am also leaning toward the V8 right now anyway.

Once again appreciate your help people!
