Well time has come to get out of my shit box ( xf ute ) and get into a decent ute. I’m just not sure what to get now I have a budget of $25,000 this includes the $3000 worth of supercharger I have sitting at home to fit AU I6 so I would be looking at getting an AU2 xls for about $20,000 so what should I do.

AU2 I6 xls supercharged, CAPA powerdine kit.

I would sell the supercharger to fit one of these in my budget.

AU2 xr6 or

BA I6 xls.

I am in no hurry even if it is another six months.

The BA series II comes out in 8 months time (April) so the runout sales would get you a cheap BA series I ute closer to April, if you wait like you said you can for six months.

Sell the supercharger and get a turboed I6 BA series I. By the time you stuff around getting it installed will a 'charger be worth it over a turbo.

What does everyone else think? Forget about the AU?

I dont think a turbo BA will get down to 25 for quite some time 2years+ maybe.

I agree! You also have the added benefit of a warranty if you can pick up a secondhand BA XR6T. However, I don't know how much they will have come down by then - my guess is they will still be going for the low 30's.

I personally wouldn't supercharge a brand new car as it voids the warranty (and that's the main reason I'd buy new) - so for me that would make a case to buy an AU XR6 or something like that.

Does anyone have any idea how well the late 90's I6 responds to supercharging? And if there's a big difference between the HP and VCT versions?

Check out the local auction houses and see what stock they are getting, and the prices they are going for. A cheap AU with a supercharger can be just as much fun as a BA turbo... But with sleeper status!

The auction houses are a joke 01 au xl's going for 19000 i can get an xls for that. There does seem to be alot of cheap wagons and some sedans but.
