Hi guys, Ive recently set up a wireless p2p network at home (802.11G) and was wanting to know if its possible for me to operate one pc from another (eg. eject cd, take control of the mouse etc.) as it would make it easier to teach my wife how to use it. Both computers are running XP.
Off topic, Ive got a tv hooked up to my computer and everything works fine except when I play videos on the windows media player it displays on the monitor but not the tv. I tried unplugging the monitor but that didnt work. Any thoughts?
Us the terminal services client that comes native with XP Pro.
Its now called Remote desktop, but its the same thing.
If all else fails, do it in reverse (uses the same programs) Send a Request For Help email to the machine you want to control from, and take control from there. Bit of stuffing around, but works for free

is it windows XP pro? if so there is a built in tool called 'Remote Desktop Connection' that will allow you to remotely control another computer in the network, as the name suggests. I use it here at work all the time but i dont know about bein able to eject the cd bay etc, give it a go tho see how it feels

VNC is great (despite some known security vulnerabilities) but it doesn't have the OS integration that terminal services and RDP has in the MS OS's. If you start a MS remote desktop (terminal service), then only one person has control of the system and the remote end does not see your actions. Depends on your application I guess.
Or you can upload a trojan to your wifes computer and control it in secret. Good fun, it records keystrokes, lets you **** around with the video settings ie. invert screen, change backgrounds and images, create your own windows messages, etc.
I think i used to use one called Sub7 Apolcalypse, its great setting your friends background as a porno and finding out the next day how his dad saw it and beat him, hehehe.
