Read New Explorer

Dad is thinking about buying a new Explorer V8 XLT. Does anybody here own one or know of anybody that does, and what do they think? You comments would be greatly appreciated.

In NZ they seem very popular, they certainly look the business on the road. I dont think you could go wrong by getting the V8.
The one person I know of who has one is very very happy with it.
I personally thought the previous model was crap (before the tyre probs) but this new model is a huge improvement in every area.

the new model explorer is certainly an improvement from the old one. a large portion of it was due to fact that i also drove one with a v8 in it and it makes a massive difference imo. i don't know anyone that ownes one but i know someone who leased one and they were very happy with it (especially since their last lease vehicle was an older model explorer). proabably won't interest your dad but i think the look of the new model is FAR better than older one too. i guess the only bad thing is fuel consumption, but that's common on almost all that type of 4WDs.

Check this out... the most relevant article I have seen on the new model.

I did a pre-delivery on one about a month ago. They are definately alot better inside and out than the older model. The V8 is very quiet and that havy car drinks on average 15L/100 but what do you expect? I am still not usre of thier price but they won't be cheap.

A word of warning. I was looking at buying one which was advertised as a 'UT' model Explorer. However, all the cars I saw had data plates marked as 'UR' model. I wouldn't want to buy a car with the wrong or older data plate.

Ford couldn't tell me why either!

I drove the V8 Limited and it drove quite well. All I can say is if that's the 4.6 V8, the V6 must be a slow dog. And the interior is typical USA Ford quality - sickly!
