New Explorer - I'm Confused as Hell - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Well, try packing two huge dogs in the back seat of an XR8 for hours on end and you'll see a sedan is not real good for me at times.

So, I won't go into why the Falcon wagon is a no-goer (might be something to do with cart springs for starters) so had a look at the Explorer Limited 4.6. And that's where the problems started.

The cars I saw were all built October 2001 yet they have 2002 compliance. But the funny bit is Ford brochures, price lists and all the rest say it is a UT model Explorer. This first batch of cars are clearly marked UR Explorer.

Is it a UR or a UT? Or is the next batch (apparently due April) going to be different?

And it's not like you can get this information from the salesman:
"I sell national fleet. So, I don't normally need to know all this mate".

That is why Ford used to fit trailing arms to locate the leaf springs better and stop axle tramp.

I have heard that the new explorer is going to be at least aesthetically far superior to the 'old' ones... mechanically I dont know ... for what it's worth I was told it's worth waiting for

HEAPs cheaper, initially and in the long run. I've heard the Explorers are very thirsty.

I definately know which car/truck I'd choose. (........XR8)

Extra car. Not a replacement.
Have driven, ridden in the new model. I hate 4WDs and all that but this bus wasn't half bad. Don't know about the halfa dozen powered version though. As usual the only down side was the interior. Why is it that Ford US can't make a quality interior???????

BTW; rang 'Customer Relationship Centre' today. Usual problem - guy thought I was an idiot. Didn't know what I was talking about. Didn't want to know either. WOFTAM IMO.

Hehehe gotta agree with that there ok when the road is smooth and when corners are high speed sweapers. But take my EF around say Royal National Park and the leaf springs become a chore to drive at it's limits. I was actually knacked from wrestling with the car. :crazy1: :crazy1:
