New Honda Legend

Clicky here

224Kw from the 3.5L V6
AWD
5 speed

Pretty impressive (as is the price). I notice they mention the BA Falcon has only 45.7Kw per L in comparison to 63.7Kw per L with the Honda. Looks like the semi luxury sedan market should get more interesting with the 300C, new japanese cars etc.

Wonder if the Ghia has a future in that world.

Re: New Honda Legend

No mention of the torque figure nor where it is produced in the rev range. At A$86k+ I don't think the Ghia is gonna feel too much heat from this particular entry.
It will be interesting to see how Honda dealers get buyers of this type of car into thier showrooms with such a large price gap in their range.

Re: New Honda Legend

Power is 221Kw @ 6,200 RPM (yes, its not 206kw anymore, Honda quotes 221kw)
Torque is 353Nm @5,000 RPM (and its SOHC)

Still pretty nice. 221Kw and AWD. Interior looks well finished. Highly regarded in japan. I think its major flaws are lack of space (typical japanese) and a 4.0L V8 instead of the V6 would have sealed the deal.

Still I think the Ghia is going to head down this road. 6 speed auto, AWD, ESP, 4.0L ~200Kw, V8 will be RWD only.

Re: New Honda Legend

This is one of the best cars from Honda (along with Accord Euro) in years! Was one of C&Ds 10 Best cars. Don't know why its 3kw down on the US spec Acura RL (same car), they quote 300hp or 224kw. For that little difference why couldn't they just give us 224kw. Expect price to be in mid to high $80k.

Re: New Honda Legend

If it is anything like past Honda Legends they will devalue pretty quickly and be a steal to pick up second hand (aka Lexus LS400, Infiniti Q45). Always like the idea of the original (transverse engined) 2.7 litre coupes as cruisers.
I am waiting for the Volkswagen Phaeton to drop down to an affordable (second hand) price.

Honda. I think quality, precision, engines, clean, small and
overall just mechanical things ( how good was cog!).
Their new models are looking good.

Like the look of this one too.

Different standards on exhaust emissions and noise mean that US spec cars a can have a better flowing less restrictive exhaust.

It's where most of the minor difference in power US to AUS come from.

Re: New Honda Legend

Like most modern N/A Japanese engines variable cam timing would play a huge role in that peak power figure. And I think you'd find it only makes good power for the last 2,000 rpm or so in its rev range. Peak torque at 5,000 rpm??? Gee that's useable grunt.........
