New Motors for AV????

I just read something on the www.fordracing.com web site in the performance parts section. There is a mustang in there they call the FR500 (I think) which they have put a hole heap of performance parts in to including the t56 and the like.

However, what caught my eye was they mentioned that the 4.6liter was now a 5.0liter. I remember off BON that they were talking about making a 5.0liter modular motor. on this site the FR500 has had a new spray bore technology applied. Which ment the block was bored and they use this technology to coat the bore. On my calculations the bore of the 4.6 liter would have gone from 90mm to 94 to get this increase in displacement. They made no metion of a stroker crank at all. So using this increase bore size and applying it to the 5.4 litre block which has a taller deck height and using the standard 5.4 liter stroke the capacity would be nearly 5.9 liters.

Maybe ford could be looking to bring back both 5.0liter and 5.8liter V8's into their line up. I gues could this mean a translation of the this motor into our AV's???????

By the way the motor put out 415hp (311kW) and 365ft/lb of torque. I think that it is around 500 to 550nM (don't quote me on that though)

I like the sound of that 5.0litre. Image what the comparable 5.8 would be like.

THere was also a huge intake with twin 80mm throtle boddies and twin 70mm air flow sensors.

The next all new Mustang will have DOHC 5L V8 that will produce 350hp out of the box.

to calculate the KW from Hp(my formula:)
KW=HP/1.34

NM=pound*1.35

Looks like our T3 5.6 already poducing more than this torque.Ford engineers are brilliants everywhere in the world.
I reckon the av will be a bit faster than the t3,and it would look better or at least newer.So good news after all.what do u think?

SSShhh!!!!

Yep I was going to bring this up a while ago, then figured it best if I didn't.

Do you really think that Ford Aust would settle for a "5.4" when GMH has a "5.7"???

5.8 = 351 =

The V10 is Petrol, its basically an F-Series 5.4L V8 with extra 2 cylinders. The Diesel is a 7.3L V8

Where is the 5.4L motor destined for the falcon coming from???

Its not a mustang motor? I presume F-Series???
Its the only one with a 5.4L v8...

Also. where does the Mustang Cobra that we get come from?
I notice the US dont have a mustang cobra on their website...

Correct me if i'm wrong but the new 5.4 alloy thats coming to the falcon is a new design. It has a longer stroke than it used so as to produce the low down torque that the current engine has.

Tickford wants a top line aspirational vehicle to show people what they can do. This means if a GTS has 340kw and 6 pot callipers there would be little use building this aspirational vehicle without it being comparable to HSVs.

Jay, If i remember correctly the Mustang Cobra and all other types of Stangs are made at the River Rouge plant (on the Detroit river) in the U.S only. Strange that it isn't on the site.
About 805 Mustangs are made there per day. I think that next year production of the Mustang shifts to the Flat Rock (Michigan) Plant. This is a newer plant and i'm sure that will help the Mustang continue to be "Americas favourite pony car"
You can tell i just love Mustangs huh?
