Now that the auto in the Barra will be tiptronic, i'm wondering if anybody has driven it and their thoughts.

I've driven a couple of cars with tiptronic boxes and i wasn't impressed. The lag was quite noticable and i can't see how it would improve performance of the auto box.

Anybody that has the tiptronic box in previous T-SERIES (button type) able to comment??? as i think the systems would be similar??

People's thoughts?

fuel economy is lower for the 'tiptronic' auto over the manual, which i for one was surprised by...

my thoughts are they are still governed by the pcm, torque, speed settings etc, so it will be let me know you want to shift and when its right ill do it.

the shift of the new barras are excellent. Remember how with AU's they had that "whine" and a slight jolt when the auto changed? The new barra= nothing. As good as the shift in an explorer, so smooth in the way it drives and keeps winding out. And the tiptronic works fine, u can have more control if driving an auto, and in drive mode its still adaptive shift so it changes depending on how hard u are driving the car.
