New V8 in AV

We all know that Holden's V8 is the Chevrolet LS1 as in the Corvette, Camaro, Firebird etc. Is the new 5.4L DOHC for the AV the one from the Cobra R, or is it the Triton from the F-150 trucks?? Right now I think its the Mustang donk, but I'm waiting for confirmation or someone to tell me otherwise.....

It has been said I cannot remember how many times now that it is a new engine. Not one that has been previously used.
And there is nothing to say we are getting the 5.4 anyway it is all unconfirmed rumour at this stage.

Hang on a minute, have'nt Ford stated once or twice that they are trialling the 5.4 motor and have selected that engine??

If that was the case there would not be conflicting stories about the 5.4/4.6 now would there..... Ford have been evaluating more than 1 engine and noone but ford/tickford really know which one they will use yet hence the different stories in different magazines....

Ford must really be having a great laugh over this. In my life time I haven't know a secret to be this well kept in automotive terms. There could be a few reasons for this, but it certainly isn't a repeat of Holdens switch to the LS1.

Motor mag changed tact some time ago and along with the drive team seem to stick to the 5.4 story. Other sources seem to indicate a combination or they change their mind ever second week. The 4.6 seems to pop up every now and then so your guess is as good as anyones right now.

Personally I think Ford would like to have the 5.4 as a number just for marketing. Having a 4.6 up against 5.7 or greater might be a headache for someone!

The other point to remember is that displacement seems to be on the increase. The world went on a down sizing mission last decade, but now every manufacture is on the increase again!

If Ford Aus are on a mission to regain some footing in the car market, and have been told by Ford US to aim above Holden, then using a 4.6l goes against that in many ways. A 4.6l Falcon won't be taken as seriously as a 5.4l Falcon, regardless of it's technology.

Lets assume it's 5.4l, then I'm betting we won't see the Triton SOHC version. Rumours point to an all new 24 value DOHC 5.4l and a 32 value DOHC 5.4l as used in the Cobra R.
