Well boys ,I had to eventually get a ute for work and to tow the ESCORT,so what better ute to purchase than a
AU III (so NRMA tell me) XR6 VCT manual ute in venom. Same color as the RS (for me anyway)
Its got LSD ,towbar,hardcover,cruise,windows,6 stack CD....... etc
77ks,still under warranty

Very nice car,I should pick her up mid next week if alls going to plan.

Now its a 10th month 01, is the VCT an option with this car and is an LSD mandatory with the option,would it have traction control as well or maybe Im not trying hard enough.

Im selling my EL XR6 in replacment and after driving the ute with (172kw) I think my El would smoke it.No doubt the ute is quick,but doesnt have the torque my EL has I would love to keep this car but the powers to be (the missis) wont allow 4 cars at home.

I wanted a AUII onwards ute manual, but I recon the weight would have made them not much faster than my fairmont. I know a 200kw xr8 ute can't even put air on my six to 100 and thats just lame, the XR6 would be worse

I really want one, and I don't have heaps of money - how much did you get yours for?

Just asking what is the weight of the car and trailer??? The manual can only tow 1500kgs and the cops are hot on this at present. Im looking too and am restricted to the auto XR6 with the 2300kgs towpack

YEH, the car around 900kg,trailer probly no more than 400kg.(guessing)
should just squeze in.
Ive seen some ridiculous tow cars with a car on a trailer even if they say the are legal to tow the weight,you really need to use comon sense here.
And when people load cars on trailers you see them as far up the front of the trailer they can get them and you've got about 400kg on the ball.
This is why I there should be a simple test drivers have to pass occasionally to prove you have the brains to select correct load weight and postition for the car,
A potential runaway train in the drivers hands of a old 4 cyl Camry with an 18ft half cabin in tow,even a ton of soil in a box trailer behind a little jap car.
You often see the week end garden worriors strugling to keep the front wheels on the ground through a round abouts.

Au3 started in Nov 01 would say on ID plate and i wouldnt take NRMA's word for it.

I have emailed ford and waiting on reply to confirm series.
sold new nov 01 so it would be close,Ive also asked for a build sheet for the car .
How long do Ford keep the production line photos for.

Yeh I got an email repy from FORD today(promt service),they have given me VIN codes for both the AU 2/3 and confirmed the AU3 was march delivered.
So yes,I stand(sit) corrected,thank you fellas.
All them same its still a tough looking ute ,on further investigation ,ive learnt that the xr8 and XR6 VCT pursuit (pack) utes were released mid 01 and after the sales sored they released the VCT as an option in the xr6 ute range soon after the original limited run was sold out.

I was on the SSV site last night and noticed they sell the "Pursuit" ute 250kw
body kit..MMMMMMMMMM
looks very tempting ,just a bit pricey all added up and painted.
