Some states may vary with legislation but I think in most it is illegal on the street. I think in some states you may be allowed to have a bottle in the boot as long as it's not connected. Sounds pretty useless I know, I guess it's if you have a hi-po street car that you drag race (on the dragstrip of course) a lot you can quickly? connect it back up to go racing.

I know that in QLD and NSW that Nitrous Oxide is illegal on the street. In NSW "the use of Nitrous Oxide injection systems is not permitted" 3.1.5.7.3 of the Light Vehicle modification code of practice, same for QLD too. Cops see a bottle-defect time and points loss too i think. Still it does wonders.
