Came across this in the local.

"Miniature motorsysles will be forced off the road by new
regulations to be introduced by the State Government.
Rules governing so- called "monkey bikes" will be tightened
to make it easier for police to act.
Under existing rules, vehicles on the road with a output
of more then 200 watts must be registered and controlled
by a licensed driver or rider.
Most monkey bikes are more powerfull than 200 watts,
but police have difficulty proving this.
The new rules will be announced by Transport Minister
Peter Batchelor today and were expected to come into
force as early as next week, sources said last night.
Under the new rules, scooters with a power output
of less then 200 watts will be fitted with plates for easy
identification, sources said.
If a bike has no plate, police will assume it is more powerful
than 200 watts. If so, it needs registration and licensing
to be on the road."

It's about time somthign was done to get these dam things off the road.

Vic. Only recently a man was hit by a taxi in Cheltenham Vic riding one and he painfully discovered it was perfectly set at bumper height. And to really cap it off a mother rang talkback today saying her 4 year old was getting one for Xmas because thats all he wanted...top speed about 60-70kmph but don't worry he'll ONLY ride it with her sitting there as well and they will put a governer on it to bring the spped down to 20-30kmph. She never mentoned whether they were also buying a helmut, leathers or protective pads etc...

they have been banned for over 2 weeks here in Warrnambool. city council over rid state law and banned them. nothing new really. it was only a matter of time because of the 'fools' that were being fools.

I live on a main road and have fools driving past in the middle of the night.

yeah they cool and all but if you use them in appropriate areas

we got a couple at work and we only use em on company property, you have ot be pretty stoopid to take them things on the road, i mean, your just looking for someone to come and hit you.

good on em for doin it, bout time someone did it, hope it makes it to SA

Well you wont be able to ride these things in Victoria soon unless it's on your own property,so it's not worth getting one.
