No Shell Optimax - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Just letting everyone know that Shell is having problems at their refinery and no Optimax is being produced. After inquiring with a few service stations i found out that it is not going to be in untill 1/12/04. Anyother choices for fuel???. eg. Caltex vortex, BP ultimate???

BP ultimate or Mobil 8000. Personally I prefer either of these to Optimax anyhow but I think its all regional. I've had a tank of Optimax a while back and found that the engine was knocking. Put in Mobil and the problem went away. May have been a bad batch of Optimax though.

for my dirt bike i was recommended mobil synergy 8000 over optimax and bp ultimate mainly for consitency. mobil according to this source is ALWAYS the same? so far no probs yet after 3 months use, had 6 months of bp before a bad batch

Ive used optimax 4 2 years and never ever had a bad batch, u got to b real carefull where u buy it from though try to make sure th servo is a multi franchised site not privately owned cos private can b a bit dodgy,mfs are managed and no reason for manager to spike fuel cos its not his profits.

ampol premium or caltex vortex..............only two i use in my ol' clevo. no pinging or filth on the rear bumper.

I dont Run it, BPUltimate or Mobil Synergy 8000 for this little RED XR.

Used to use Mobil Synergy 8000, am now using BP Ultimate in the turbo as I can notice the difference.

On a side note, with the shortage of Optimax, has anyone else noticed how Mobil & BP are taking advantage by jacking UP the prices of their premium brands...
