Why is it that they always make these cool concept cars (for example, AWD Focus with Turbo) and then when they release the car in the US, it's some neutered version (180 HP Focus SVT?! Give me a break!)

American manufacturers are always complaining about poor sales and discontinuing sports car lines. Well if they would just build something decent, people would buy it!!!!! :fmad:

Its not just Ford that does this. Audi has the Steppenwolf, and I wish they would bring it to the states. I wish Mercedes would bring the Smart Car. So lots of great cars we will never get. :(

And in the spirit of this thread...why can't we ship out our crappy cars? Why are WE the ones stuck with the Metro? I never saw any AMC's shipped overseas.....

I think we have become too complacent and accept whatever crap the manufacturer decides to give us. We demand more! Give me a ford with Twin turbo and AWD. That's what I'm talking aboot.

Before I decided on a 2001 Bullitt Mustang I really considered a Subaru WRX (Turbo, AWD).

In the end it was the leather interior, cooler looks, and collectability of the Bullitt, plus the 0% financing that won me over.

A turbo mustang would kick a**, and AWD would be great for winter driving in Colorado.

Would those features make it less of a "muscle" car?

I don't know.

I could have saved some $$ by getting the Subaru, but if the mustang had AWD, or a turbo there would have been no contest.

But could those features be added and keep the price for a GT around $25k - $27k???

Looks liek all the concept cars/performance models become in AU or EU. it is a pretty sad state that they can not release anything good for us in the states. it is obvious we want the cars why not release them to the public here.

Australia have had some great concepts too like the 300+ coupe and the Herrod stroked Sony Xplode XR8.
I feel Ford US need a hypo hero car. Chev have the vette and Chrysler have the Viper. I just dont feel the svt mustang cuts the cake and the cobra R is too rare and expensive.
I would love for one day that Ford Global lets all Ford consortiums export all thier cars to all different countries as exchnage for one another. eg cosworth focus and Ticfkrd Falcons to the states for Mustangs and so on.

I think one reason the U.S. gets worse cars than Europe is becuase most of us dont care. Most people know nothing about cars, nor care to know more. We here on FF are in the minority.

There could be some politics involved as well with unions etc protecting the internal car assembly industry and blah blah blah.Doesn't help the consumer to get what they want tho.

Some of it has to do with enviromental issues.
