It has been revealed that NSW Cops are on an incentive scheme where promotion and other job benefits are linked to a performance system involving quotas on speed and seat belt fines.
The NSW Police Minister this morning announced he would be cancelling the system (only because these idiots were found out of course) as of today.
Do you believe them? I don't.

There are no quotas as such but if you aren't handing out at least a reasonable amount of tickets per shift then you are onbviously bludging. Some people take it to extremes (min of 50 per shift !!) and most of them take what they get..5,10, 20 or sometimes .. none.

Well, this scheme had a minimum number per shift that once met would result in preferential treatment etc for the ocifers involved. Without looking up a dictionary, this is surely a form of quota. The bottom line is it is an incentive scheme to write people up for money and points. No other way to express it IMO.

"He was also saying that one of the cops gives out tickets even when he is off duty."
Thats dedication.
I once knew a lawyer who would annoy the shiet out of people and not even charge them fees for it.. And a politian who would make a arse of himself even after he retired...
Here here for reforming the police structure and time expendure..
I think its demeaning for police to spend so much of there time writting tickets just to fill quotas.. I hardly ever see TV cops doing it... They just seem to be busting drug dealers, murders and theives every 5 minutes!!!
I want one of those kinda police force.. Yeh I know its not real, but atleast they would hassel me less because I put the bloody rego sticker on the blue tint part of my windscreen.. Not that it matters, the RTA got the sticker jammed in the printer and you can't read it anyway.
A story like that broke up here in queensland a few christmas's ago. Luckily it turned out the cops were not on quota's, but had "performance review guildlines" or some other bullshyte.

I was referring to vic police .. what was recently canned was not quite quotas.. in fact it was worse... another brilliant idea from the powers that be. Don't get confused with showing productivity and quotas

Well, just because you can't see it .. it doesnt mean it's not there. Do you think the murderers and drug dealers that go to court turn themselves in, process themselves, do all the paperwork and then organise the court details??
