I can't believe there are crazy people out there who try to sell these plates for those ridiculous amounts, and furthermore there are "Einsteins" who actually pay it! At the end of the day it's a sheet of metal that identifies your vehicle to the authorities. I'd love a custom plate but I'll be buggered if I'll pay $300+ a year for the privilege. I know some people like to personalise their cars and that's fair enough, but I'd rather spend the money on other stuff. Just my opinion! :s6:
Oh, and Jamie XR6, shame on you for looking at the WRX's for sale section!

You don't have to pay the $300+ every year, only when you initially buy them. (well you don't in Vic anyway)
I've had mine for 10 years, and they've been on 4 of my pride and joy's. And no, I didn't spend crazy amounts of money buying them off someone else, just the $280 at the time from Vic Roads.
And I'll never sell them, because the plates are me, not describing the car they're on.
Russell.
You guys in Vic (and probably any other state other than NSW) are lucky. I just checked the RTA site to confirm and a custom plate will set you back $30 for the deposit and then $361 annual fee.
Thieving bastards!
That's why I got on the soapbox before. I'd love a custom plate but not at that price.
Yeah i'm a lazy bugger i haven't bothered to look into getting a personalised plate.
Though my last numbers sorta has relevence to the car.
Have to say some of the cost of plates are insane.
