The West Australian, Saturday 15th, has an article on Holdens oil troubles, with the Gen III. 67,000 have been sold in Australia, 2% have had problems, (1340engines) Oil consumption is the main problem, Holden state " 2.5litres every 10.000kms is acceptable". The 300kw HSV engine has been the worst offender.
A new piston pin will be available from April, to stop the piston slap problem. Holden also advise to use mineral oil not synthetic oil in their engines.
I like this " Holdens engine woes have had little effect on sales but with a resurgent Ford about to launch its Ford Performance Vehicle division, the last thing Holden want is disenchanted owners. "
I hope the Boss 260 and Boss 290 are faultless.
Kick arse Ford.
