hehehe. I think Peta are a bunch of DH's so I'm not going to go for the properganda film. I grew up in the country and know that the vast, vast, VAST majority of farmers do NOT fall into this catagory. It's just a sham and I wont fall for it.

Now pass the gravy, I'm eating lamb for dinner tonight and I'm going to enjoy it!

Here are the bits that I can vouch for as being incorrect in Aus:

Many egg farmers are now changing their sheds to allow open range hens. Notice all those open range boxes of eggs on the supermarket shelves, market forces have changed the way the chooks have been farmed. As for the claims made about not feeding animals for 2 weeks to make them lay that seems a little odd. If they dont lay for two weeks they are not worth keeping.

The footage of the cow with the cancer would not happen in Aus as the animal would not be allowed to be sold. Cattle are killed in Abbotiors with a bolt that severs their spinal column. hence they are pretty dead by the time they are hoisted onto the chain and skinned.
I have never seen cattle branded on the cheek in Aus.
Cows are milked twice a day not "a few times"

Cant comment on the piggeries as I havent had enough to do with them. but again in Aus diseased animals cannot be sold.

The main theme of this video seems to be to shock people who think that milk comes from the corner store. There are obviously cases of cruelty that occur in Australia but no farmer who wants to run an efficient operation does the counter productive things shown in the video like having milking cows too lame to walk, after all if they cant walk they cant graze and if they dont eat they dont produce milk.
Oh well I'm looking forward to my dead pig flesh and chicken embryos tomorrow morning.

What a load of crock ..........

As most of you know ..... I live on a farm .......the kids (the eldest 2) & I had a great laugh ......& before any dogooders slam me for showing my kids, they were raised on a farm & yes while the video was extreme......their comments were " what are we meant to eat if we dont have meat,eggs & milk ??? "

I know for a fact that this video is an extreem example & by no way is an everyday fact of Aussie farmers practices...

Funniest comment for me was 'that the cattle get earmarked with no anestetic' ...hahahahha I wonder when they bought in anestetic for ear peircing .......its exactly the same thing ........& I'm sure most the greenies & their kids have their ears peirced......

Also ......if a chook isnt fed for 2 weeks it most definatly wont lay an egg .......only time my hens lay is if their bellys are full ........
