Opel have released details of a new twin turbo car diesel that develops 156kw from 1.9litres. but uses no more fuel than a diesel engine developing half the power. 0 to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h.
On a town and country cycle it used only 6 litres per 100km.
Engine is in a Vectra.
It uses two turbochargers working in series : a smaller, high response unit operates at low engine revs and a larger turbocharger takes over when the revs build up.
Imagine that engine in a Fiesta or Focus.!!!
