A freind of mine who is a manager of salesman, however you call that, was out here for the 1st time in many years. He works for Opel, which is GM. He wondered why we dont have all that electronic YAW control, etc, stuff in our cars yet. Anyway, he borrowed a Barra and thought it was well built (better than opel but not BMW or Merc), powerful, smooth handled well....
He Hired a new Commodore and the only word he could describe it was is a "HACK" lol, and he works for em! A huge diff between it and the Barra!
I continue to laugh at anyone with a VY exec. One of my mates likes to yell "WHY?" at them!

Interesting...well maybe Ford & Holden should have the likes of Top Gear review XT, Exec, XR's, SS, S, Calais and Fairmonts...just curious to what they would think.

Anyone who purchases a new family car and settles for the base model really needs to consider what they are doing, and I don't care if its a VY exec, BA XT, or any of the others... Why would you privately purchase a NEW car and settle for the base model, it defies belief....
note: I am not talking about navated leasing or any type of purchasing where the amount or type of vehicle is restricted

I never take note of Top Gear or any other British car reviews. They seem to like to bag the hell out of anything that's not British or European. The will almost certainly bag the hell out of Aussie and US cars (Because they can't beat us in anything else!). I mean these are the people who think Jags and Rovers are well built and dynamic cars.
Re: An Opel salesmans view on our Barra and Holden.
I would like to hear an honest opinon from someone about how our cars compare to those overseas. Especially European because Australia car makers go to enormous lenths to make our cars look "eurpean" both inside and out. I think that some German cars are overated, the fact that they are built in Germany doesn't always silky smooth and problem free; for example have a look the the BWM 7-series, the richest of all the BM's but has had almost as many problems and the famous Gen-3. I think we have better vechicles here than in the US, but they'd think not obviously.
Re: An Opel salesmans view on our Barra and Holden.
people buy the base model, because thats who its aimed at... "The People"
there are next level models if you want to be one of "The Other People"
then there's the FPV's and HSV's for the "Rich Cvnt / Mid-Life Crisis People"
the other thing about comparing cars in other countries etc is the fact that, try as they may and unless you test your car in EVERY country you wish to sell it in, the cars will only work "Their Best" in the country/region etc they're designed for...
