i use it all the time - dont worry bout it...falcons are notorious for running too rich, i get black soot, but its only for like a second on start up....no biggy

if its continuous (ie you drive down the street and it still puffs) you may need a tune up

Running rich can also be caused by other factors, such as a faulty oxygen sensor or thermostat.

nope brand new thermostat and there is nothing wrong with my oxy???
optimax just means i have to wash my car more.

By the way i got my 17x8inch Simmons FRs fitted today. Since my car is lowered 3 inches they used a ****ing shitload of shims on my newly installed camber kits, they filled them right up. Any how they look ****ing mad!!! i'm taking pics this weekend!

I had the same crap on my ED Fairmont. Black soot on start up from optimax.

But I find it worse to run on. I use more fuel and there isn't a power gain.

My Unleaded consuption hovers around 12.1L/100kms the optimax was closer to 13.8...

Re: Optimax - be careful you don't get it on your duco. It chews through wax and leaves marks in the paint work. Nothing you can do about it, and Shell denies it all (had many arguments with their tech department about it). Unfortunately it's something you just have to live with as it is a very good fuel ...
