Just looking at powerchips website, interesting they think they can get ~245Kw from a 5.0 TL50 (220kw standard). Makes you wonder why ford burnt all those dollars on a stroker if all you needed was a computer chip upgrade.
Also they think the 4.0 VCT in a xr6 can reach 192Kw with just a chip upgrade..
Also the upgrade for the 4.0 LPG has a mysterious "98" option, quite curious indeed as LPG has a higher than 98 RON, and you can't buy optimax as a gas... But it produces more power on it..
They also have amazing gains on the ed xr9 sprint/GT, which I belive itself was rated optomstically from the factory. Also mimium gains from the 3.8 s/c which everyone knows is underrated from the factory same as GTR's and Sti's.
"We can only refund money for a Powerchip if the customer proves using a certified Porsche Cup Dynometer that the claims were not met"
Thats a big claim, reminds me abit like the SS Cold air intake pipe that claims like 8kw at the rear wheels.
Unless Chip is programmable aka Uni Chip then i'll believe the power gains, and programmable chips are only as good as the the tuner.

Pretty easy really!! Because Powerchips claims are complete shyte!!!! Ford "burnt" money on developing the strokers to produce REAL figures.
When it comes to chips, the only one to consider (outside a full Motec system) is Unichip. Even then, the gains you are likely to get are only as good as the tuner and equipment. I reckon a gain of 10-15kW at the wheels is about the absolute most you would expect with JUST a chip upgrade - and that would be with a Unichip with decent tuner.
Powerchip / Chiptorque - forget them!! Waste of good money.

Clicky clicky here for previous ride! I still miss her!
Unichips are cool and do the job well. But I've been told by mates to stay right away from the powerchips. Seems the gains are non-existant. Laminge, you actually LOST 4 kw from powerchip?????? Shyte!!!
