Ok, now that everyone's had a chance to voice their own opinion about the Barra, I'd like to know what people's friends, family and co-workers are saying. Let's face it, most of us are die hard Ford fans and don't exactly need much convincing that the Barra is a great looking car. But what's everyone else saying?

I know my girlfriend's dad who never liked the AU needed no arm-twisting that this car was very nice. Generally, most of my friends have given the thumbs up except for some one-eyed Holden fans would never admit to Ford making something nice. But no surprises there.

I reckon its the "sensible" buyers that will be impressed... thats who those models are targetted for. But yeah the general concensus is that its a definate improvement.

Steve on this morning's Today show said he thought the Fairmont looked like a BMW or Merceds! His female co-presenter said that it looked good. - Thats good publicity.

Well my brother believed that ford lost the plot with the AU. He didn't mind the XR's though. When he saw BA on the news he called me and said how much he liked it.

Dad saw it on the news also and expected it to be more of a totally new model, but he liked it also.

Guys here at work think it nice too.. and they're not fussed about Fords.

So its been pretty good.

One of my mates, a Holden man, thinks its too conservative. I said "yeah like an executive is stylish and inspiring."

There will always be Holden people who can't admit Ford makes better cars and some Ford people (incl. me) who can't admit Holden has some nice points (maybe the GenIII....when it stays in 1 piece!!).

Discovery

So far my friends and family have been very positive about the new design, even those with a strong Holden bias.

I am really looking forward to going in to work tomorrow (Ford Discovery Centre) to get the public opinion there. I am sure it will be a hot topic amongst our visitors. I will have to hang around the front counter as much as posible.

The only thing is initial impression doesnt meet my expectations, I was unware (maybe thats why) that sheetmetal for doors and roof where the same (is that true)?

Given the hype I was expecting something special not sure what I was expecting though maybe something similar to the lines of audi
