Hey guys, just wondering whos into overclocking and who Air Cool or Watercool, over clock or not, whether you like Nvidia or ATI, AMD or Intel, put the vitals of your computer up here no matter how old hat it is...that goes for you 286, 386 and 486 users too!
For starters, I air Cool, ive got One fan sucking air in, a Coolermaster Jet 4 on my CPU (yes, its noisey but i love it!) and i have two 8" fans blowing air out the back...i dont overclock because i dont find i get the biggest performance jump out of it, and i dont watercool because i dont like the idea of pumping water over my computers Go-BITS(tm) haha
Im currently running:
P4 3.0Ghz Northwood
ABIT IC7 Motherboard
1024Mb of Geil Platinum Edition PC4200 DDR533 RAM
Geforce FX5900XT o/c to 468/768
120Gb Seagate Barracuda SATA HDD
Im also picking up My 6800 GT next week and saying goodbye to my 5900XT

Im into overclocking but ive left my current comp stock since it does the job more than adeqautely. Its the grafx cards that seem to make the biggest difference anyway.
Running:
P4 3.0 Gz Northwood
ABIT IC7-G
1024Mb DDR RAM (no brand name, i didnt think it was worth it)
Radeon X800 Pro <-- Damn theyre fast!
120Gb Seagate SATA HDD
When i put it together i chose a nice case with a cold-air intake (Lol) and 2 side fans, looks nice too. Antec 550W power supply gives variable fan speed control and can support alot of add-ons. Will be useful in teh future.

I have got an amd 2.6 atlon fx5900 1 gi of ram raid data stripping harddrives and had 4 fans on it 2 on each side to blow air in and suck it out.It flowed better than my cars stock intake system at about 220 cfm.I had to take them off because my ears ring after my accident.I had overclocked many chips to the point where eggs would fry on them. But I realised that to make a computer really go hard you need fast memory..So i was overclocking ram heaps .Ihad pc133 running at 147 mhz!!!!Now i run pc 400.I might try to overclock this right now actually..
used to have a watercooled 1.2gig t-bird which used to overclock quite well currently setting up leftover bits of that machine as a media PC to run divx movies etc on the TV, upgraded a while back to an 3200+ Athlon 64, so the waterblock doesn't fit anymore, waiting for a new waterblock in development to be released by going back to watercooling.
This system is more or less a stopgap untill there is an socket 939 nforce chipset with pci express support (and rumor has it it will see the reintroduction of sound storm as well)

I got a few mags with some reviews of PCI Express. Lots of hype behind it but it didnt make any significant difference according to their benchmarking tests. The PCI-Express equipped boards made less than 5% difference when measured against the older 865-based boards. Still, its early days with development hopefully they should pull ahead.
A quote from the article: There is no way in hell that we can justify upgrading to a 915P or 925X-based platform if you're running a relatively current system.

All i could think of would be the new P4 5 series processors, but looking at DDR2 and PCI-X...there really isnt a calling for it at the moment...in particular DDR2 and PCI-X...graphics just arent good enough yet...any how, keep posting away!!!
