Can I own more than one set of personalised plates? What happens to the first set I have? Can I sell them or do I have to keep them. What happens if I give them back to The department of transport?
Re: Owning more than one set of Personalised Plates?
As far as I know, you can own as many sets as you want. You can sell them or retain them for whatever purpose you want. If you hand them back I'm sure that you lose your money because they don't give out refunds. At least that's how it is in Victoria.
I bought a set then sold it over eBay not for a rediculous price as I've seen but for a $30-40 profit. I did the transfer of details myself so that I knew that everything was going to be done correctly.

I don't want to say which one otherwise someone else might buy it!
I guess the only dilema I face is that the current plates refer to my name, so I'd have to 1st find someone with the same name and 2nd convince them to buy them off me.
Either that, or just have the original set in my room untill i feel like changing them again!
Re: Owning more than one set of Personalised Plates?
It doesn't matter who's name it's in so long as it's in someone's name. My current car's plates is in my name & if I buy a personalised or custom style then that makes two sets under my name. I can put the personalised plates on today and keep the normal in my room until I sell my car.
There shouldn't be no limit as to how many plates you can have. In the end the govt is getting your money and you ain't gonna get it back from them.
Which ever one get's used, you're going to get fined because they're in your name.

i think he means that the numbers and letters on the plates refer to his name/age/DOB whatever - he will have trouble finding someone who mas matching initals or whatever are on his plates.
check out http://www.ppq.com.au/frameset.asp - you can put your plates up for sale there if you want to sell them, but in answer to your question, yes, you can have more than one set of plates in your name.
PS - mate - hows the diff going?
