So I'm channel surfing tonight, I come across channel 8 in Atlanta, it's a PBS "Public Broadcast Station". For those who don't live in the US. PBS is funded by the Federal Govt. "our tax dollars at work" and donations by private citizens. All and all it's a education channel, not as cool as the History Cannel, Discovery, and TLC.
Anyway back to the story. They were showing a episode on Frontline about SUV's "Sports Utility Vehicle". Here are some interesting facts.....
1. Out of 12,000 roll overs, 300 were Ford Explorers.
2. In the last 15yrs, roll overs have gone up 10% each year in the US.
3.Almost all new SUV's are coming out shorter and or wider. NHTSA "National Highway Transportation Safety Board" and the NTSB "National Transportation Safety Board" had recomened auto company's to do this 15yrs. ago.
This program was very intresting, half of it was about Ford and Firestone. They interviewed this one expert about SUV's, standing outside of a building. They guy is talking away and all of a sudden is eye's get big and he starts saying "oh god, oh god". The interviewer and camera man turn around. A Chevy Blazer had rolled over just 50ft away from what they were talking about. That was just some strange timing.
