I have been emailing our minister for police in WA, michelle roberts, in a vain attempt to get some information about the misuse of these things over here. most of you would be familiar with the expression 'pissing up a flagpole', well, that is precisely what I am doing. I emailed the monster a list of questions specifically about this abuse of motorists and my first reply was a standard letter with a couple of added sentences included to make it look like it had been personalised. firstly, I didnt fall for the trick as I have seen enough of these letters in my time to spot one a mile off. Secondly, the letter made enough references to 'law abiding citizens' as to annoy me enough to take offence. Finally, and no real surprise here, none of my questions were answered.
So i replied ad the minister's office got a sergeant from the camera division to call me!!! So, I chatted to this guy (who was extremely nice and also admitted that they were used for revenue) and waited for a formal response. I waited for 3 months before I got my response today (which I had to email them for) and they reckon that a chat with a sergeant is enough to get rid of me???!!! I have now emailed them a third time (fifth if you count the 'why arent you talking to me' emails) and have asked them to reply in writing to my questions.
I understand the frustration other Forum members are experiencing when trying to deal with these pricks. I am close to asking for a personal hearing with the shemale we have in charge of our police in WA, and I will do so if they dont get back to me properly this time.
I am going to hound this diot until they either respond to me properly 9and I will post that response on here) or they lose office...and then I will start on the next idiot.

Yeah Michelle Roberts is seriously ****ed up!!!
Along with that Alana McTiernan!
There has been so much bad reports against both of them its just not funny. For example, the previous police commisioner couldnt do a good job, because Roberts would not let him do diddly shit!

I applaud your tenacity but I am curious as to what outcome you are chasing? Do you think you will have an influence on a very lucrative policy? Will you be satisfied with a written response stating "speed cameras are for revenue only, what are you going to do about it"? I don't think any political entity will win public support based purely on speed camera policy. Although they'd get my vote, we probably don't represent a large enough percentage of voters to sway things.
Take comfort in the knowledge that from what Ive seen, you have it much easier in WA than we do in QLD.
Oh and I had a big laugh at this

i wouldnt mind fixed, permanent cameras, that have been advertised to the public in known danger spots. This way, they will be able to single out idiots, plus it will actually be saving lives. If they know that corner has a speed camera on it, but they decide to just go nuts, the camera will get them and then its entirely their fault. most people would slow down around dangerous corners and stretches of road if they know that theyll get fined other wise. But just having them on the free way, albany highway or other busy roads where its just straight, multi-lane roads with gentle corners, thats just money making.

i got fined for doing 68 in a 60 zone on shepperton road at 8:45 on a tuesday night...it was dry, warm and i was the only car on the road. you cannot honestly tell me that this camera was in that spot, at that time in the interests of road safety. they are sold to the public as a road safety initiative, yet they clearly are there for revenue. did you know that we are getting fixed cameras in the tunnel, even though there has been no serious accident there since it opened? this is blatant revenue raising, but what do we do about it? **** all. we say nothing, bend over and let the government give us a right shafting. i have also asked the monster about what is being done about roa safety...it isnt just a whinge for the sake of it.

i havent thought that far ahead however, should they be stupid enough to admit it (and i dont think they will), then there is a half chance we can get them used as a part of an integrated road safety strategy as opposed to their current use. as for the shemale comment, follow the link and tell me she hasnt got balls

we need to organize a way to bring all fixed speed cameras down in one night.... anyone on here good at that sort of thing? We need leaders and volunteers, I am sure i can help out somehow.
