Just thinking what people are predicting or expecting from the new Barra range in terms of performance times...
Knowing that we are getting new engines with significant power gains, but there's also talk of significant weight gains. So lets throw some times around...
xr6 turbo - 6.5 (its gotta go at least this hard, but maybe closer to 6.0 as the 8 will be about at 6(the old ea s pack did times of 7.7, I second quicker shouldnt be a problem)
xr8 260kw 5.9 (TE50 already does this time and the xr8 should be as good)
GT 300kw 5.5 (well we can get the power down better than a commodore of the same power and weight, so half a sec better than an equiv holden sounds about right)
GTHO 350kw 5.0 (special light weight car ready for performance applications like, gt production racing. Should see around this figure!)
Im guessing Top speeds will be quite high, Turbo cars have beautiful torque right through the revs so id expect at least 245 from an xr6 turbo (ea spack does 217, and the new holden astra turbo does 240, so 245 isnt too much) XR8 will probably do about the same, maybe 4 or 5 km more than the xr6, so 249, GT, how about around 263 and GTHO about 272 or 3. Look at HSV's with this type of power and the speeds are up there!
Cant wait to blast the Nullabor plain in a boosted Turbo falcon!!(woohoo!!hmm, 18psi, 11 sec quarter miles, and top speeds of 300!!lol(imagine the torque of it!thats what gets you there!)

I think If the Turbo XR6 has about 220kw then it should be down for a low 6 sec 0-100km/h sprint and a mid to high 14's quarter.
XR8 with about 240kw should be good for a high 5's 0-100km/h accaleration, with the quarter dash coming in at about flat 14's.
TE/TS (if they still retain those names) Should have about 275kw with over 500nm of torque and should be capable of a mid 5's 0-100km/h with quarters in the high 13's somewhere.
GT with about 300kw should be good for 5 low 5's 0-100km/h with a mid to low 13 quarter.
GTHO with about 330-340kw, lighter weight and the best rear end of the bunch. I would expect flat 5's minimum, but hopefully high 4's capable. In the quarter I would expect flat 13's but Hopefully break into the 12's.

Is there any reason that the GT shouldn't have 350kW?

If the XR8 is only gonna be some 20 kw from the XR6T then ford might find that more people will rather the 'TICH!!' sound of the Turbo over the extra 20kw (I know I would).
My bet is that either the XR6T will be lower than 220kw OR (hopefully) the XR8 will be up in the 260kw area.
If you want blow off valve sounds there are recordings of them on the internet.. buy a PA system and you dont need to go to all the expense of buying a Turbo car!!
20kw is 20kw .. and remember ... no one (except the ford people etc) know what the outputs will be

I would be surprised if they didn't keep a "budget" xr in the range. an xr6 with the standard falcon drive train and all the other tickford goodies like wheels and body kit is always going to be a good seller IMO.
sorry, totally off subject. i have no clue what the performance times will be like, i just hope they are FAST!
