police fining ppl for not locking there cars

i dont know if this is happening everywhere else but here in mildura the cops are planning on fining ppl if they dont lock there cars when they go into shops IMO i think it a load of crap and another way of revenue raising if someone leaves there car unlocked and stuff gets pinched bad luck i say

Re: police fining ppl for not locking there cars

OMG FFS it's a persons own choice to lock there car if they dont want to and it gets stolen and found insurance wont cover any damage anyway coz car was unlocked so wtf is the go with that.

Re: police fining ppl for not locking there cars

i think next on the list is talking in public, you do to much of that and not enough spending your money or stuffing your face you should be fined for it.

or at minimum a disqualification from attending any mall etc *lmfao*

its beyond a joke these days isnt it..

cops out there revenue raising yet crime isnt top priority for em..
dont i feel safe already, knowing my car is safe yet i wont be..

Re: police fining ppl for not locking there cars

Yeah I've heard about this a while ago, apparently its been around here too. You are only allowed to be x amount of metres away from your car if its unlocked, otherwise it has to be locked up otherwise u can get a fine. I can see how they want people to lock their car to prevent theft, but giving out fines is just stupid.

Re: police fining ppl for not locking there cars

So is this a federal or state law? I seem to remember some law about leaving your car unattended with the keys and around children or so. The legislation and justifications must be available.

Re: police fining ppl for not locking there cars

Hmm , while understanding what your saying , think more about the big picture.........

Insurance costs for everyone.

Every idiot that makes a claim cause they are too dumb to secure the car makes the rest of our insurance prices go up and its part of the Govts idea to try to stop that (half azzed as it might be)

Anyone??

Re: police fining ppl for not locking there cars

seems a bit of irony here - they spend thousands traing cops to book you for not locking your car but dont train em to catch the crooks...
