i was just looking at the vin # plate on my car and it has opt 20 written next to the build date. I rang ford aust. and they said opt 20 was a police pack, just wondering if anyone knows what is different. Does this mean it is an ex-chaser because it is heritage green. THe car is an EL XR8 series 1.

only real options you will notice is

a) 2km incriments instead of 5km (SPEEDO)
b) sexy mudflaps
c) adjustable speedo for bigger wheels/different diff ratios.

thats about all you would really notice on a xr8.

should have a higher ampage alternator too.
You should be able to flick the auto straight back into second withour pushing the detent button.

xa, sometimes, very rarely that happens due to the boxes probably been kicked up the ass so many times but the police officers driving them so hard :)

In my car, you can push it straight back into second if you push it down fast enough. But if you do it slow, it locks in 3rd and you need to push the detent button if you want to go any lower.

Are all EF/EL's (or ea-ed) the same?

In My EB2 Fairmont, My Mums ED Falcon and My Girlfriends EB1 falcon you can drop straight back into 2nd without the button!
All are 4 speed autos.

Yeah in my Dads ED GLi wagon you can push it back to second with out using the button on it, its a 4 speed auto too

EF/EL just put you foot down and theres plenty of POWER. No need to put it down to 2nd thats why you can only put it down to 3rd. LOL.......
