When police vehicles are sold do they take the performance chips out or leave them.

Just after I bought my EA, one of our local car dealers had 4 ex pursuit cars from Melb and they all still had the chips in.

I drove a EA taxi which was an X police car and it had its chip , when my boss retired the car a fellow work mate worked out a deal with the boss and swaped them around from his stock standerd EA.

the old ones i dont think they do but this is only because i have a neighbour with a ED falcon GLi V8 ex cop car that doesnt have a performance chip

the new police cars dont even have tickford motors let alone performance chips, they are pure stock falcons, so the ex cop cars will be nothing but high mileage taxi's really.

Re: as

Yeah, ur right ben.

I wrote a letter to the Chief Commissioner's office in Melbourne asking for information on police vehicles and if they modified the cars in any way at all.

After a couple of weeks they replied saying that they do no modifications what so ever to their pursuit vehicles. They also enclosed a photo of a EBII police car.

Then, I phoned Ford Australia student information hotline and asked them the same thing. They sent me a letter saying that they could not disclose information about these vehicles.

So there you go, two different stories...

Re: as

Hehe no offence Sundeep but the Police arent gonna specify what they do to the pursuit cars to any joe off the street who writes in asking for this info.

Otherwise any criminal can do the same or more mods to the same car and be able to outrun them.

BT1

Holdens have a specification for cop cars there called BT1's Then have metal plates under the fuel tank and engine sump plus a 80 litre tank. All the mod chips are taken out of the cars before there sold off. Im not sure about the Ford police cars but im sure they would do the same.

Re: BT1

Yeah BlackEB,

I understand where you are coming from, but as EA90 said, Holden tell every1...so what have Ford g2 hide?

I dunno.....i might ask again...just to see what they say thisa time. Or, maybe i got it wrong, Ford said that they dont disclose that info and the cops said they do.
