Pop up windows

While surfing the internet, searching for my new avitar, I was amazed at how everytime I opened a site, like 50 new advertizing pop ups hit my computer! It took more time closing those stupid annoying windows than it did to write this post!

If there was anything more annoying, I wouldn't know what it would be. Stupid Popups....
:fmad:

NOOO!!! another one hit as I am writing this! When will the torture end?

Actually, I closed EVERYTHING, and went to the restroom.....and when I came back 3 new windows opened themselves up! I think it may have something to do with this cable modem.....who knows...

Thumbs down

it's the rage: pop-up windows.

****, even microsoft is doing it now. it's really easy to pop that javascript in there whenever you open or close windows, or even click on certain links, or move your mouse over certain spots.

it's a really lame attempt to get page hits for search engines and other hit counters. to me, it's just hacker crap. i hate it.

i only use js to enhance my website, not shove it down your throat.

get yourself a pop-up killer. i've got one on my machine now that doesn't even let me open up a second browser window unless i bypass it. pretty cool.

Sounds like a good idea Damon. I think I'll look into it.

popups are a sad state. Most advertisers pay extra for popups.. in the neighborhood of $1 - $2 per popup served. Compair that to $0.05 per banner ad displayed.

There are programs like Damon has stated. Some are better than others.

Thumbs down Yup they really suck:(

My bro installed an app on our home comp and it continously pops up junk every few minutes, WTF. And it embedded itself in the registry. I guess I need to go registry hunting:) It was the only way to get rid of AIM during mass installs of MIE on PC's @ work(it used to force you to install it, dunno about now)

It's a real trip, especially when you get an aggressive popup campaign... sounds like a machine gun!!!
