mad Popups

Must have visited a site that has caused me to get regular popups ALL THE TIME and keeps resetting my home page. Does anyone have any advice to get rid of this problem?

(I've cleared internet history and temp files using internet options in IE)

Get hold of Ad-Aware from LavaSoft @ www.lavasoft.de
An excellent bit of software which is regularily updated with signature files.
You run it every now and again and it scans your computer for bastard software and/or entries into the registery that mess with your default homepage, track you site visits etc.

Oh and stop visitng the porno sites, I had too :)

Try this

look for cookie directory and delete all cookies.
also check in add and remove programs sometimes the little pricks get in there.

Last and not least do a search in the registery for what ever is popping up with regedit

regedit.exe type it unbder Start/rUN

Regedit - how do I know what files are doing it? There's a lot of areas in there! (Maybe there's a group of suspect file types/suffixes????)

Oh, not porn as this is my work PC - I was researching an issue for a customer and in doing searches ended up on some of those marketing sites.

If I was porn surfing I'd be jobless I assure you!

I manually deleted all internet files so we'll see how we go. I will try and get permission to install ad aware as my downloads are blocked (unless someone has the 1.45Mb file emailable).
