Hello boys and girls, been lurking around, this is my first post/thread. Ok, I'm in the market for a AUIII XR8, 220kw, manual, Silhouette, sunroof, leather, prem. sound and brakes. The last two I can go with out, everything else is a must. Here's what I need info on.
* Is it just the sIII that had the 220kw motor? if not what build date did they start and how to make sure it is a 220kw?
*What are the differences mechanically and features wise between sI, sII and sIII? I'll let in on what I "think" I know are the differences. Bodykits. 185kw in sI, 200kw in sII and 220kw in sIII. Single piston front brakes on sI and twin piston with a caliper position change from rear (2 o'clock) to a front (10 o'clock) position on sII and sIII standard. Doors lock/unlock button on dash and seat belt height adjustment on B pillar for sII and sIII. What did I miss?
* There is a Rebel XR8, what's it got that the sIII XR8 doesn't?
Anything you can add, even things that would go unnoticed would be great. Thanks people.
Oh, and just for the record, I'm one of those guys who think the AU styling is sweet, just a notch better than the BA, just.

Rebel had 18' wheels, 220kw and momo wheel and knob as standard along with unique bodykit at the time. Then Ford AR** raped the Rebel owners by releasing the same kit for the SIII. So basically the limited run of 125 Rebels meant nothing, but they did throw in a PS2.

AUII XR's onwards featured the darker Warm Charcoal interior and altered boot applique. The rear indicator lights also became clear on AUII.

The July 2001 build and onwards AUII XR8's featured the 220 kw Windsor. Also from then on body coloured mirrors were also introduced.

The AUIII's featured a dot matrix pattern on the windscreen to help reduce sun glare and clear side indicators.

I picked up one of the XR8S111 with Rebel kit, damn fine car !!!!

Well that I didn't know, I thought the Rebel came out after the sIII XR8 with extras and a limited number. Thanks XLR8.

mate, sIII didn't have a playstation two set up in it! the rebel xr did!, and the rebel xr also had a killer set of 18 inch rims as seen on the series 1 ts50 - which the sIII xr8 did not have.

imho, the rebel still differentiates itself.

I thought that's exactly what XLR8 stated, or am I blacking out?

If the 220kw was added from July 2001 onwards does that mean that some late model sII XR8's had the 220kw? If so, then a sII with my preferred options would also be on the hunting list as the 220kw is the motor of choice for me.

Anything else to be added. Found out that sII and sIII had a black center console (around radio) insted of grey as in sI, and also, blue coloured intrument cluster on sII and sIII, true or false?

true and true and along with the improved seat trim it is quite a nice place to be in!

Yes the Late Edition AUII XR8's did feature the 220 kw motor. I'd still suggest to get the Series III, though I could possibly be biased.
