Wot are people running in their Fords..fuel wise ?
Are all premium unleaded fuels similar ?
I've been running Optimax in my T3, but have tried Mobil 8000 once and subjectively found this to be the best. It seems the car is alittle more responsive and has slightly better fuel economy.
I go for premium if price is right or once every three tanks if not. I have used optimax and the BP brand as well as premium from a few not so popular brand stations. Honestly I believe I can't tell the difference in performance. I have read before on this site about people getting further tank distance using premium but for me I believe it is the opposite. I have also used the octane boost a couple of times but usually only to fix pinging from a bad batch of fuel.

You have to use it for a couple of tanks in a row to flush through the old feul before there will be much of a difference.
I have found with the caltex premium that there is a difference in feul economy for the better, with a slight increase in responsiveness
I've been using Optimax in my I6 for quite a while now. I did notice when I first started using it that the engine was more responsive and liked to rev more. I also do get slightly better economy with it as well.
I was religiously running optimax in my sprint, but was told to try just premium and i think it goes a bit better on the premium, but seems she is drinking it like it is going out of fashion! Have to wait till next fill to see how much she likes it tho.
Optimax isn't the same quality as 12mths ago I get audible detonation with it now at 4500rpm tried differant Shells etc. Then someone (Harley rider) said BP Ultimate was superior and it sure is no pinging at all and 20-30km more per tank on average
