Whilst out and about today I thought I would drop past and see if President Ford in Elsternwick was open to maybe take a test drive in a BA.
Upon arrival... shut up tight... one and one only BA outside the closed showroom... a demo XT in silver. Plenty of 2nd hand cars about.
Lo and behold..across the small road is Summit Holden (formerly Reg Hunt) With doors open ... salesmen ( and women!! ) everywhere..and more importantly .. potential customers all over the place. After spending about 2 minutes looking a VY's (no comment) we were approached by a saleswoman asking to help .. polite.. and had no problem with us saying we were just looking around.
(Lexus (and toyota) same thing ... but not as many customers.. and I didn't bother stopping!)
President Ford (and maybe other Ford dealers too) MUST wake up to themselves. After a massive advertising campaign letting the world know what a great car the really BA is ... they shut their doors and force people to go to a Holden dealer if they want to talk to someone...
I realise a public holiday is a public holiday .. but by opeing their doors, Holden and the other dealers have shown a greater willingness to sell cars.. or so it seems.
Ford have a long way to go to regain the crown... lack of effort on the behalf of dealers like this ... makes the road longer and harder.
Can't agree more. I've seen the same thing up here in NSW at a number of dealers - seems some of them have almost adopted bank hours!

It's not surprising, Ford aint used to selling cars :o]
That's my biggest complaint with Ford now - the level of apathy in their dealer network.
Now that GP has fixed the product problems, I sure as hell hope they're working hard on kicking some arse at some of these dealers!.
