President Ford..Summit Holden.. and Lexus

Whilst out and about today I thought I would drop past and see if President Ford in Elsternwick was open to maybe take a test drive in a BA.
Upon arrival... shut up tight... one and one only BA outside the closed showroom... a demo XT in silver. Plenty of 2nd hand cars about.
Lo and behold..across the small road is Summit Holden (formerly Reg Hunt) With doors open ... salesmen ( and women!! ) everywhere..and more importantly .. potential customers all over the place. After spending about 2 minutes looking a VY's (no comment) we were approached by a saleswoman asking to help .. polite.. and had no problem with us saying we were just looking around.

(Lexus (and toyota) same thing ... but not as many customers.. and I didn't bother stopping!)

President Ford (and maybe other Ford dealers too) MUST wake up to themselves. After a massive advertising campaign letting the world know what a great car the really BA is ... they shut their doors and force people to go to a Holden dealer if they want to talk to someone...
I realise a public holiday is a public holiday .. but by opeing their doors, Holden and the other dealers have shown a greater willingness to sell cars.. or so it seems.

Ford have a long way to go to regain the crown... lack of effort on the behalf of dealers like this ... makes the road longer and harder.

Thats really is pathetic on the Ford dealers part.

Sorry to sound harsh, but my Ford dealer bent over backward to get the deal I just got.

Can't agree more. I've seen the same thing up here in NSW at a number of dealers - seems some of them have almost adopted bank hours!

May be President Ford have run out of BA's to sell, wouldn't surprise me.

So they decided to close instead to tell all the protential customers they will have to wait 6 months or more to take delivery of their new BA.

That is a real possibility. Lots of Ford dealers around Geelong area are low on Ba's.

That doesnt provide a valid reason to be closed - they still have PLENTY of other cars to sell. Falcon is NOT the only car sold by Ford.

xa coupe> agree 110%. It happens in NSW too. Ford really need to give their dealers some "counselling".

Hey Guys,

Holden also had their advertisements plastered n TV all the way through the tele-cast of the Melbourne Cup.

Ford should have thought of that! especially with being in Victoria and all!

That's my biggest complaint with Ford now - the level of apathy in their dealer network.

Now that GP has fixed the product problems, I sure as hell hope they're working hard on kicking some arse at some of these dealers!.
