Price of series AUII/III Fairmont.

Hey all,

Well my dad is considering getting a new car (well, used, but you know what I mean)... He would have a budget of about $15-17K. I suggested an AU Fairmont which he quite liked. I was just wondering what you guys think the average market price for a AU II/III Fairmont would be. It would need to have less than 100,000 kms and probably be from a dealer (warranty etc).

With $15-17k, am I dreaming? Otherwise he'll just wait a while until the price comes down (BA series II time!?).

Cheers.

I think you'll be hard pressed to get an AUII Fairmont for $17K. An AUI or an EL Fairmont Ghia is probably a better chance.

Cheers,

Ive been keeping an eye on the auctions and AU II or III 4.0 Fairmonts go for about $26,000 - $28,000. Ghias are usually towards the top of the range. I havent seen many V8s so I'm not sure what they are worth.
Have a look at www.pickles.com They have some fixed price cars for sale prior to the auction and from what I've seen the price they put on them is about $500 - $1000 above what you might expect to pay at auction assuming no one else wants the car. There was an AUIII Ghia with Factory sunroof, VCT engine and satnav with less than 40,000 Km a few weeks ago here in Canberra that was sold prior to auction for $28,500. The vehicles I have been looking at all have less than 40,000 Km on them
Regds,

You should get one from the Auctions for that, I seen a 2000 model go for about 17 grand the other day.

If I was him I would just buy a AUII Futura, they are nice and a fair bit cheaper/lower kilometres.
