I have heard roomers of warranty claims with the 6 sp in the Holden V8...Any one heard anything??

I would be supprised, I hear the 6 speed is all heavy duty stuff and rated for heaps of torque and is used in some pretty quick cars.

Dunno maybe holden got a bad batch, this is the 5.7L Holden engine or the 5.7L ls1 we are talking bout?

As of sep 2001 doesnt appear to be anything significant appart from gear rattle techline.

Although clutch is questionable.

Never heard any probs with the M6 box itself. Clutch dramas I've heard although never saw when I did the warranty, not that I would have bothered with them. Diffs are another area that caused me concern on the LS1 cars. Besides the fact that I prefer the auto behind that engine.:s5

i heard of cases where the 6 speed simply shattered when VTII first came out, but nothing since then. it's meant to be a really sturdy gearbox!

Its not meant to be the best gear box. The t56 is sued in the cobra R whcih is also meant to be an awards heavy shifter but I havnt head anything about any reliable problems with it or warranty claims.

I know two guys who had warranty replacements due to this gear noise. My GTS-R had similar gear noise probs but you could shut it up for a while by changing the oil. They use Dexron III so it's not expensive to change oil, plus drain and fill plugs are easy to get to.
