PS two

Gday all, just wondering about opinions on the PStwo! did a search to see if it's been discussed before but the search on ff is pretty useless now.

anyway i know technically its identical to the existing ps2, anyone here buy one? i was thinking about purchasing one because they are only $240. i noticed also they are top loading and certain things like the old multitap or hdd dont work on it. are they any good? and has anyone experienced problems with them?

Re: PS two

I heard that the metal ring used top damage games but I think it's been fixed now, apart from that i'd probably buy one if you want something cheap to play games on, if you can wait the ps3 is due sometime next year or after I believe but they'll be a lot more expensive.

Re: PS two

Main reason I bought a PS2 was so I could get Gran Turismo 3 A spec.
Prime game, have spent hours playing it.

Plus also I can play my PSOne ganes on it. The world touring car championship game was the only one I could find with the Surfer's Paradise Indy track on it at the time.

I believe it's now on V8 Supercars 2?

Hanging out now for Gran Turismo 4, that should be a blast!

If you can afford it, get a steering wheel for your drivng games, they make a big difference.

Ed :)

Re: PS two

It looks almost no smaller with the controllers plugged in and on the floor. Same sized mess.

Re: PS two

It is heaps smaller in my opinion.
I was gonna buy one cos i just buy stuff for the hell of it..
Somehow avoided that urge.. standard PS2 works fine and has done since i bought it at release time for $649.00

Re: PS two

i sell like 15 of these damn things a day at work and yeah its the same thing, apart from obvious size and built in ethernet port or something, i think its basically a 'we havent done much in a while lets make our existing hardware smaller to attract profit' thing on sony's part. [sales-pitch] we (toys r us) got some good deals on it though, i think for $329 or something you can get the ps2, 2 controllers, dvd remote, memory card, a game of your choice (you have 6 titles to choose from but basically, any game that is equal or higher value you can substitute in) and you get $50 worth of vouchers to use on games up until march next year [/sales-pitch]
if you already have a ps2 though, dont really need to buy this unless you are a sony groupie or something along those lines, hang out for the ps3
also, i *heard* that xbox2 wont play original xbox games which microsoft apparently wont confirm but knowing microsoft, where its all about the money, the temptation to make gamers go out and buy a whole set of new games will be too great to resist, whereas good ol sony will allow backwards compatibility with the ps3 so you can play ps2 and psone games. but dont take my words for gospel

Re: PS two

If I had of known how small they were getting two years ago I would've held out, but in saying that, the old PS2 has given me hours of enjoyment and I think I'll hold on to it for a while. Plus the use of the PS1 games gives it the edge over the competition.

Re: PS two

Sony did a similar thing near the end of PS1s life, they made and released a mini version (which is just the same) called PSone, just before PS2 was released. Seems they are following a similar trend this time.
