I have been told by the docs that i may need to have one of these.

Has anyone else here had one of these ?

Do they hurt ?

What effects do that have etc ?

Corticosteroids - are steriod hormones secreted by the cortex (outer part) of the adrenal glands, or are synthetic substances that closely resemble the natural forms.

Corticosteroids preperations should be used with caution because the cortisone diminishes your natural immune response to the infective agent. Absorption of a hign dose of cortisone over a long period of time may also cause undesirable, systemic side affects.

some know side effects include:

hypertension, sodium and water retention, and potassium loss.

Withdrawal of treatment MUST be gradual.

Yep the doctor was the one that suggested it for me :) as a thing for the bursitis and the torn part of my leg

I've had 12 shots of this previously, the only pain part was the actual injection, had to go into my shoulder socket, part from that there is no pain involved, I found there to be no side effects with this treatment,

Yeah ouch! I had to get one in my knee, like right in the joint and man did it hurt! Run, run very far away hehe

It isn't too bad. The worst part for me was when i saw the needle on the cat scan as they were sticking it in. You sorta see it pushing against the fluid sack in your shoulder and then it pushes through. Don't drive yourself to the doctors though. Best thing i could relate to is getting tetanus shot (with the biggest needle i've ever seen) hehehe good luck.

I usually have to take corticosteroids every year after i get a chest infection due to athsma. I find that if I stay on them too long I start to get the crazies and quiet murmurings like voices in my head :)
I tend to take high doses and then cut it out after 3 days instead of tapering it out as that stops the side effects. Occasionally that method of taking it doesn't fix the infections but it is a hell of a lot better than talking to yourself

The acid flashback dreams are cool though

I am sure that wont happen to you though *grins*

I Have just had my 3rd injection in months and seem to be suffering side effects such as dry mouth and flue like simptoms. The injections them selves where not to much of a problem. OH except when I seen the size if the needle comming. Has any one has side effects like me?

I have had them before and not suffered any of the effects that you have. Where are you getting the injections?. Mine were in my foot.
