I have 2 people who have been trying to register as FF members, but cannot because their e-mail addresses are hotmail ones. Apparently this site won't allow hotmail e-mails. How come? And therefore, how can they become members?

maybe get them to join the webmail from telstra.com.

Using free email servers such as Hotmail, is often a way for people banned from forums for being morons to re-register under a new name (new email address.)

Hot mail was added to the banned email address list when we had a problem with spammers spamming the forums, then when their account was banned, creating a new address and continuing on their spamming way. Their messages too hours to clean up and to avoid it happening again we placed a ban on many free email address providers. Seeing as most if not all ISP's give at least one, if not more email accounts with their access plans we don't see this as being a problem which will prevent users joining.

It is not that we do not want them. It is more of the fact that of what the others have stated so far. A lot of spammers and trolls use the hotmail addresses. this not only makes life a pain in the rear for the members that really use these accounts legit. It makes my life that much more difficult. The removal or should i say tje disallowing of certain domains is to alleviate the spam and trolls. making my life that much easier. Making this site better for all in fact.

that thread will take a bit of time to load since it has a listing of all the email address/domains banned.

Remember.. I dont want to do this. I want people to come on here. BUt also remember this. I know that in the US as well as in Europe.....still checking on AU....that all service providers provide their dial up and cablemodem subscribers with atleast one email address.

OK, so how can I get these people on (my hubbie in particular) when they don't have access to a work e-mail like I have? Forgive me for being computer illiterate, but how on earth do people get a legit e-mail address if not through their work?

Hubbie desperately wants to join here, but how?

I use a hotmail address bu tsince i wasnt able to join, i made a new email with another free email server (cant remember he name) and it worked.
